Re: Topamax

hi chris, firstly i would just like to say that topamax is a serious drug with serious side effects which should be weighed out first (pun not intended!). ALso topamax can bring on depression. I am currently on it and building up my dosage; although i am on it for other purposes than weight gain as i am an epileptic and cannot tolerate the other anticonvulsant drugs. I do not like some of the side effects it has such as forgetting names, where you put thigs, words, etc, feeling dumb, dopey and frustrated. it\'s very very confusing and agitating to say the least. it may not sound like anything too severe but when you are in the midst of it and you are beginning to wonder if you are in fact going crazy, i think you may rethink your weight. although i do not have any right to comment on that. all i am saying is that it is a very serious drug with nasty effects. before i began takign i suffer from terrible clinical depression and awful mood swings and this has not helped my depression or the erratic and somewhat manic swinging of my moods. in fact i have noticed i seem to be getting more severe but there seem to be fewer episeodes. finally, i have beaten anorexia in the past and am now suffering from a binge eating disorder which i do believe that the topamax is alieviating a tiny bit. just a small bit. but it is not a magic pill in any way and i hate the way it is being broadcasted as that. i wish you all the best. please email me and tell me how you are going.
