protein in urine

I am a 27 year old female. I recent was told that I have too much protein in my urine. My first visit showed a +4. I did a 24 hour urine collection and blood work which all came back normal. On the second visit I was told my protein levels are still high. My doctor told me that a high level was always a need to be concerned but since I had no physical signs of an illness and BP is fine and test results were ok that a high level of protein maybe not mean anything that it was normal for some people. I am waiting to undergo a kidney ultrasound. Since all of this has happened I have noticed that I am voiding more frequently. What could this mean? Are my kidneys about to stop fuctioning? Is there anything I can do to may the situation better? Could it be that I drink way too much sodas and not enough water? Please help
