Alternative medicine is full of cats (no two of us act exactly alike, or want to). I would look on different doctors websites to see what they offer as that is generally what they do most. You can find a number of websites on www.naturopathic.org.
In daily practice, I use a great deal of research, covering every aspect of the patient\'s illness and resulting in nutritional ideas. So much of my visit with my patients is spent teaching them the basics of what is going on in their body. I could also prescribe supplements in some cases, but I don\'t like products over food. I also commonly prescribe a homeopathic (if I\'ve gotten enough time to go over the intake and a clear one presents itself). Since homeopathics are non-toxic and less likely to cause side effects than herbs, I like them. If the patient presents with a physical ailment, I might mobilize their joint, give basic exercise ideas, and discuss the basic care of joints. I generally refer more complex cases to the local chiropractor.
Research, food, supplements/botanicals, homeopathy and physical medicine, I think that\'s a generic list most NDs would include in what they do, pretty much on a daily basis.
I hope this helps, Best of luck, Chris Maloney, Naturopathic Doctor www.maloneymedical.com Portland Maine
