Govt Urged To Investigate Melilea Greenfield Organic Product
KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 (Bernama) -- Consumers\' Association of Penang (CAP) has called on the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs to investigate the selling of a product known as Melilea Greenfield Organic: Nutrition and Revitalex Product in Malaysia.
Its president, S M Mohamed Idris, said there were claims that the United States\' Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had certified and approved the product but checks by some potential customers revealed that the FDA had not given their approval.
\"Due to the increased complaints and queries, the FDA is planning to issue a general warning to inform all US consumers regarding the untrue claims of certification and approval.
\"It is understood that neither the manufacturer, Greenfield Organic Inc, Midvale, UT84047, USA, nor the product is registered in the United States of America or Canada,\" he said in a statement, here Wednesday.
S M Mohamed also urged the Malaysian authorities to issue a public warning to consumers to exercise caution when coming across the product.
There were cases where unapproved tonics and other supposed health supplements were sold for an exorbitant amount and gullible Malaysians were not aware of the true situation, he said.
