I live in Florida where a bill has been introduded to reopen the Florida Board of Naturopathic Medicine. If this happens, and the law remains similar to what it was in 1959 with appropriate updates from that time through 2003, Naturopathic physicians in Florida would have the most broad scope law of any of the currently regulated states, followed by Arizona.

In my opinion as a Florida licensed chiropractic physician and certified in acupuncture, the notion of having prescription authority with appropriate training, as well as CAM practices that are taught at naturopathic medical schools is truly \"integrated medicine\". Unlike a chiropractic physician in Florida who cannot prescribe legend drugs or legally take people off medication because chiropractors do not have prescription authority.

I belive that creating a dual enrollment that would grant the NMD and MD would be the best for getting naturopathic medicine licensed in every state.

Unfortunately, my research has turned up the fact that some people who call themselves an ND would prefer that naturopaths not even be licensed.

Naturopathic physicians have an opportunity to enter the 21st century as primary care providers with the emphasis on integrative medicine.
