Future of Medicine

When something works and works well, eventually, it will prevail. This is why I believe in Naturopathic medicine. I planned for a long time to go to allopathic med school. I have the grades and MCAT scores to get in without a problem. There was one catch however; my heart was not in it. The more I examined MD medicine the more turned off I became. I began to see clearly that big pharma and MDs have been long time bedfellows. The two have a symbiotic relationship both feeding on the other for power and credibility. This symbiotic relationship has resulted in enormous wealth and influence some of which is spent directly or indirectly to discredit effective modes of medicine which threaten this dominance. Anyhow, beyond all the politics, natural medicine has not only proven to me that it works, but it is also in congruence with my beliefs on respect for life and our world. After a car accident that left me in a great deal of back pain 4 years ago, allopathic medicine did nothing for me. No matter how many pills they gave me, cortisone injections etc; nothing helped beyond transient relief usually fraught with side effects. This is when I turned to acupuncture. Acupuncture relieved my pain and unexpectedly helped lift the depression that had set in from the accident. The naturopath treating me also gave me Bach flower remedies ( a homeopathic remedy) which worked amazingly to lift this melancholy. I am now healthy, happy and on no pharmaceuticals. I owe a great debt to natural medicine. No matter how many times people tell me with my grades and scores I would be nuts not to get the MD, I know that my integrity and what I believe in is more important. Natural medicine works.
