G\'day
I\'ve had hereditary pancreatitus since i was a baby. After years of illness i was diagnosed at age 17 and had an operation to removed about half my pancrease and had it connected to my intestine so that it could drain better. There were many calcium stones blocking the duct (this was seen through an ERCP (camera down to pancreas)). I\'ve only had one major attack since and have been told that more stones will slowly develop and i may require another operation. Fats cannot be digested due to a Super Tripsom (spelt wrong) molecule in the enzymes that come from the pancreas. I am supposed to take enzyme supplements either called Pancrease or Creon (Creon is stronger). There is a specialist unit in the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Victoria, Australia.
