Nutrition is just one area in which Naturopaths are extremely well educated. In addition to this they are educated in, and may specialize in: traditional Chinese medicine, herbal medicine, homeopathy, ayurvedic medicine and may be additionally licensed as acupuncturists. I have nothing against nutritionists or any other health professional. I do know that an ND is very expensive and it is too bad the debt to income ratio currently is what it is. I think the trade off is, for most NDs, to be able to practice what they are passionate about and to feel they have not caved to the politics of the day in making their career choice (I am not indicating that a nutritionist has). I want to be a healer, pure and simple. For each individual with this authentic desire, they must choose the career they feel is best for them. The career will allow THEM to be most effective. For me this is naturopathic medicine, for another it may be physical therapy, another massage, and another an MD.
