NO...NDs and DNMs are not the same thing. In many provinces in Canada, DNMs are not recognized as a registered profession either under the Regulated Health Practitioners Act (RHPA) or the Drugless Practitioners Act (DPA). The scope of practice is very different between the two, as NDs are permitted to perform a larger number of treatments than DNMs. Further, the educational requirements are more rigorous and the training is more extensive for NDs than DNMs. As an ND student, I can assure you that the two are not the same, and that a DNM in Canada won\'t get you very far if you plan to practice in a province that requires a registration as an ND. NDs are encouraged to develop their own individual skill sets in addition to the core modalities that are taught within the curriculum. To sum it up, their not even close, and many view DNMs as scam practitioners of alternative medicine.
