How do you become a DNM and what does it make you legal to do in the US?

I have a BS in health science from a state liberal arts college (basically good for nothing) but I took courses in Australia and interned with a holistic chiropractor in California. I want to be able to heal people and use what I know (and of course learn more) but the legalities of it all seem so muddy in this country. Please help!
