Toprol XL for Blood Pressure

Hi, I take a small dose of Toprol XL for blood pressure. I tried natural methods to keep it down but gave up and went on the medicine when it was running too high... I was told this particular medicine was not too harmful to the body. Does anyone have an opinion of long term use of Toprol. Thanks.
