Ms Kroll, I would just like to say I am not scared of you...or any corespondence naturopath for that matter. I am not a 4 year school graduate, but a humble part time pre-med student who is hoping to attend a naturopathic college in a year or two. Nor do I wish to argue who should and should not be alowed to call themselves a naturopath. There are plenty of others on this board who will be happy to do that. Were it up to me I'd simply assign each group a seperate but distinct name they could call themselves. One group could be naturopaths the other something like "holistic doctors" This way there would be no confusion about who was what. It has been my experiance that the general public doesn't give a hoot about which group is the true decendent of the teaching of Dr. Lust. When they want advice about natural healing they simple want someone who knows what they are talking about. If you can do that...more power to you. If I can do that one day as well, diagnose, and sugically remove a wart, or stitch a cut...I think that would be great. Quite frankly I find all of the fighting over who owns the naturopathic pie annoying at best. In my travels I have meet some great natural healers...mostly people who call themselves herbalists...their knowledge and profesionalism astounds me. I would trust many of them with my life. I have also meet more than one great 4 year naturopath. Over all I find them very inteligent and they know when to draw the line and refer thier patients to other mods of healing. I do take some umbrage with you calling those in my chosen profesion allopaths who know somthing about natural healing. I think if you looked into the profession deeper you would find that is not the case. I have looked into coorespondence training. I have no wish to quit my job, uproot myself, leave all the people I know and love, and spend a small fortune, but that is the sacrifice that must be made in order to learn my chosen field. If in my mind there were a way to learn medicine via the mail or internet ...beleive me...I would. Please do not insult that sacrifice that I will make and so many have done before me. Mine and there intensions are well and good I assure you. If it makes you feel any better I am currently taking a course in medical terminology via the mail from the university of Mich. It's a great way to learn!! I think if we scratched the legal and territorial suface you and I would agree on most things. I have I have made some sense of my position. I wish you well Dr. Kroll Stephen
