no, the total head is not shaved, as the poa healthcare for a best friend with cns vasculitis (rare disease autoimmunie) she had vp and va shunts...no scars, no shaving and is doing fine, although it sounds so innvasive to us laymen, the neuro surgeons do it all the time, its everyday for them, it was a breeze for my friend who had developed hydrocephalus from the vasulitis on her central nervous system....with pseudo tumors, they can also be , the rare autoimmune disease...please check that you do not have this illness instead. Seeing a good Rheumatologist can help you rule out anything autoimmune..such as lupus, sle, or cnsv etc...they all act in the same way as pseudos...brain shunts , both vp and va turned out a breeze compared to her illness!!!!
