My heart goes out to your grandson! I was diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebri papellidema in 1996 when I was 37 years old. I was on medication (Diamox) until just this year. I refused the shunt and the spinal taps. I suffered tremendously with headaches and vomiting and vision problems every single day for over 6 years. I also fought all kinds of problems with my electrolytes, especially potassium deficiency (from the Diamox). I am now legally blind, however, my vision is still correctable with glasses and I feel wonderful - better than I have felt since I was 25 years old!
