I am so glad to find this site with so many people experiencing the same side effects from Effexor. I went to my doctor about 2 weeks ago because I was feeling sort of down and depressed about different things that happened in my life, nothing too drastic, so she said she would prescribe something to relax me, but she did NOT tell me what the side effects could be, or what the withdrawl symptoms could be...just that she could give me something to help me cope with things better. I thought my doctor knew best so I said sure, if that would help. I had been on the drug for only 10 days and was experiencing all the side effects you are speaking of. I did not like the way I was feeling, I felt more depressed, and this awful swooshing is enough to drive anybody up a tree!!! I called my doctor on Monday morning and said I want Off!! I stopped taking the Effexor XR so it\'s been only 4 days without it and I will surely thank God for the day when this doggone swooshing will stop. Because I was on this drug for even this short of time, I will have to go through the withdrawls as if I had been on it for years. For those of you, you don\'t need this kind of drug that messes up your head so bad you can\'t even think, with headaches so untolerable, anxiety, dizziness, dreams, the swooshing ......STAY AWAY FROM THIS DRUG!! I can only say it in so many words. This is horrible. I don\'t care what the withdrawls are, I will NEVER, EVER take anything again in my life such as this. I had an appointment with a neurologist today, and I told him that I had been on this for 10 days......I asked him how long will it take for it to get out of my system. He said 2 weeks!!! So when I got home, I took all the pills and flushed them down the toilet. I am just so angry at the doctor for prescribing a drug such as this and not even telling me about it. I should have had more sense and looked it up before taking it, but then again I trusted my doctor. From my experience and others, STAY AWAY FROM EFFEXOR!!!!
