Re: Effexor Withdrawal

My PCP put me on Effexor for post stress syndrome. To make a long story short. I had to go off this medications because my body was rejecting it. I have been off the drug for one year and a half. The way my PCP tapered me was 75mg a day for one week 37.5 a day for one week. Then 37.5 every other day with a Zantac and Claritin in between. Then 37.5 twice a week wtih Zantac and Claritin. Then maintained me on Zantac and Calritin for two more weeks. This was easier than cold turkey like I tried to do before. I had hallucienations, insomnia, lethargy. However, lethargy, low blood counts, nightmares, insomnia, extreme mood swings, nervousness, chronic urticaria, panic attacks, weight gain (20 pounds), and inability to concentrate all came after my tapering dose. I am just now getting energy back, still have urticaria and 15 pounds of the weight but trying to beat depression naturally. I won\'t give in to the temptation of a quick fix with a pill. It nearly destroyed me.
