Hello all,
I am new to the board. I am a \"young\" 52 yr old, energetic female professional.
I have been switched to Effexor rx from regular effexor(my pharmacy does not carry reg anymore). I took 75mg, 2x a day and it worked perfectly for 8-10 yrs. I had two side-effects that I know were from E: my main problem was having a temper issue when the 75g wore off around 4-5:00 ish. But if I was careful of the timing-no problem. Effexor SURE helped me - I went from unmotivated, suicidal and crying all the time to happy, interested in life and very motivated (almost manic in comparison to friends of mine).
The second issue was my loss of sex drive. DH has been good regarding that. Besides, his testosterone has finally dropped now! Ha!
Now that I am on E rx, I feel like I have a sinus infection. I feel dizzy and gravol does not help. I\'ve tried different dosages/times etc., and still can\'t get it right.
I am now down to 38.5 2x a day. I thought I could get off it, since I am now in menopause, and am thinking I might not need it anymore. (PMS was BAD for me).
I would also like to get that \"lovin\' feeling \" back.
But whew, I am having vivid dreams, headaches, short temper, sinus pain, and shaking of my hands - sort of jittery. I am obviously in withdrawal, but I want off of E. The symptoms kind of change a bit in intensity every few hours.
1.Should I just wait for this stage to level off, or will it? How long does it take, for heaven\'s sake, to feel physically well. I think I can deal with the depression, now. But these symptoms are very distressing.
2.Will I feel better soon or should I go back up in dosage? I have not felt well since being on the rx type.
3.Could I go from here to nothing? I am not very pleasant right now to others. \"B\"word is a good description.
4. Is the regular effexor still available, or is it just my pharmacy that only carries the rx? I want to go back to the old style, and taper off of that one if I can.
5. Is there a time period that is reliable about judging how long the withdrawal will take before it\'s over? 2 weeks /2 months/6 months?
Thanks in advance for your help.
