I was on Effexor for 9 years and have been off it completely now for about 3 weeks. Taking half a benadryl as needed helped with the symptoms, but when I don\'t take the benadryl the symptoms come back. I am sad, depressed and have a physical tension from head to toe that is unbearable - like a panic attack without the panic. I am also having heart palpitations and chest pain with an exertion (I do have heart problems but the withdrawl is exacerbating them considerably.) The good news is that the brain spins and zapping did get better - I was afraid they never would. It helps to know others are going through the same thing - at least I know there is a physical cause for my symptoms. Hang in there everyone. But my advice is that if the depression gets too bad or you have thoughts of suicide get some professional help and don\'t try to tough it out alone.
