Fibromyalgia, CFS, etc...

I am a 45 yr. old white male who served 23 yrs in the military, paratroop, Combat in se asia, etcc.. 3 yrs ago I began having serious back problems, yet all scans (ct & bone) all showed normal for my age, however I suffered as I still do from serious pain throughout my body. I am not an MD , though I did survive pre-med yrs ago as part of my PhD studies, Im an astrophysictist, with a minor in Exobiology. I have been diagnosied in the past 2 months with FM, and have been placed on Darvoset, vicoden, IBprofen 600, Flexoril and a host of sleep aids, yet I still only get about 3 hrs a day, with an occassional nap, on a scale of 1-10 Im at about an 8, and never drops below a 6, and thats just a dulling of the pain, which may last for only 2-3 hrs, then I have to take more. My VA MD's, are suggesting alternative meds, as well as Bio-Magnetics, braces, etc.. I have not been able to walk without a cain in 3 yrs now, and it continues to worsen, it has impacted every facet of my life, as well as my career which is nearly non-existant now due to this, my hands will not allow me to hold a pen or even drive at times, let alone walk, and Im at the end of my rope, So Im looking for alternatives, and suggestions.....
