After starting effexor I noticed several new problems cropping up all at once: my vision got worse (had 20/20 all my life until I turned 40 and it was just mildly presbyopic before effexor), my weight ballooned, my sleep was restless and I started with leg twitches, my memory started to diminish(I teach-this is NOT good), hot flashes went through the roof, and I became sort of sleepy all the time (probably lack of good sleep?). So, in weaning myself slowly off the medication I now find my self with fuzzy brain, vertigo, headaches, numb arms, and generally feel rather flu-like. I hope that this subsides and I will return to ONLY being depressed with my occasional black moods. I now feel that that\'s much better than being blind, stupid, fat and hot all the time. Let\'s hope the side effects wear off!
