I have been on effexor xr 75mg for 9 months, and have tried to wean off 3 times with no luck. Withdrawal symptoms are unbearable, nausea/vomitting/headaches/ anxiety/horrible vertigo/abdominal bloating even without eating a thing/decreased appetite with weight gain, couldn\'t get up out of bed while I was trying to wean off. I was a runner and ran 5-8 miles 5-6 times a week was training for a full marathon prior to taking effexor. Went on it just for what I thought was going to be short term, I had three close people in my life going through horrible fights with cancer over the last year, two have sinced passed away (both under the age of 40) so things are finally getting back to normal, and I want to get off of this medication. I have never taken prescription medications, pain killers, antidepressants and am not a drinker, so I thought my body was just not used to taking anything. I haven\'t been able to run even 2 miles the past few months because of the constant fatigue with the medication,but I can\'t even get out of bed when I\'m not taking it. I was unable to work while trying to wean off of effexor, I was only able to return when I started to take it again. I used huge amount of vacation time to just try and wean off of it. I haven\'t been successful. I had no idea that it would be sooo horrible trying to get off. I just needed to get through the last few months, I don\'t feel as if I need it anymore, but I can\'t get off even with the help of my doctor. Have a friend who is unable to get off as well, she has the same symptoms. If I had known it was this bad, I would never have taken it in the first place. Patients need to be made aware of the horrible withdrawl symptoms prior to taking it. If I had known I never would have taken it in the first place. Even while taking it I never \"feel 100%\" and just very numb to even the most depressing situatiuons with no energy most of the time. Count me in as well, it is to dangerous, and I wouldn\'t wish my worst enemy to feel this horrible.
