Nan, I recently got off Effexor. My last titrated dose was on March 26, 2006. I literally went to hell and back! By March 29th I was contemplating suicide! I was originally placed on Effexor for symptoms of Fibromyalgia. The side effects of the drug drove me to be weaned from it. I had no idea the withdrawal would be so bad. I won\'t go into all that I experienced here, but I will tell you to not be alone while coming off Effexor. Take benadryl for the dizziness and have your doc rx a mild tranquilizer such as clonazepam to help with the insomnia and the sobbing events. I\'m a Licensed Practical Nurse and even with my knowledge this still kicked my butt!! Most of my symptoms are all but gone. I still have some slight dizziness and the swooshing noise in my head only comes at night, but I can handle it. This is a wicked drug. Effexor needs to be taken from the market. I\'m currently not working. I can\'t yet. I have to live one-day-at-a-time. I\'ve missed out on so much! I wrote a nasty letter to the neuro doc that placed me on Effexor to let him know what I\'ve been through while getting off the drug. I\'ve asked him to not rx it for any of his patients. I had to go to a local clinic for help in getting off the drug. The PA there said he knows what an awful drug Effexor is, and he won\'t prescribe it for anyone!
