I have been on effexor for close to a year for panic disorder. I originally took Paxil, but paxil made me gain weight(close to 50 lbs) so my doctor switched me to effexor. Well,I unfortunitly lost my insurance a couple months ago, and because I cannot get affordable medical insurance, (wich costs an average of 200 dollers a month, and only covers a crappy 50% of perscriptions) I decided I would try to ween off effexor by slowly lowering my dose over the period of a week.- Needless to say,I am still taking effexor.-150 mg of pure hell. I sweat till I am completely soked and dehydrated. I shake, tingle, and feel disoriented and light headed. I forget what I\'m saying in mid sentance. But worst of all are the emotional withdralls. I have never expiertianced such feelings of self worthlessness and complete hopelessness, coupled with surges of irrational anger, and an overwhelming desier to end it all. I almost long for the days when I had panic attacks. Its like getting to feel what being nomal is like just to have it ripped away and replaced with a hellish cycle of exssesive withdrawls and financial strain...and that is just when I forget to take it for two cosecutive days. I cant keep shelling out 137 dollers a month for much longer. I am a 23yo single mother of a 6yo boy. I truely hate the bastard that allowed this stuff to be legal. I can not put into to words the pain (emotionally, phisically and financially)that I have suffered as a result of this medication. This should never happen to anyone. No one told me about how horrable this could be. I trusted my doctor and country, a mistake I will not make again.
