I, too, am having a great deal of difficulty getting off the Effexor. I was administered Effexor due to extreme mood swings from PMS. As it turned out, it was a very large tumor and the mood swings, under the circumstances, were trying to tell me their was a medical problem. However, since I did not know this at the time, I agreed to allow my physician to prescribe Zoloft. She said that it would \'take the edge off my mood\' and that it was not addictive. After my hysterectomy, I tried to get off the Zoloft, but when I could not, my physician switched me to Effexor so that I could wean myself off that. She said that they were certain that Effexor would not cause me any problems to wean off of. The Effexor is worse than the Zoloft. When I try to get off, I become physically ill like I have the flu. I shiver, feel hot and flushed like I am running fever, get physically sick to my stomach, have that \'head in a very, very, long tunnel\' feeling, dizziness, loss of coordination. It is terrible. I am normally a very high functioning professional who can do anything that I set my mind to. However, it has been two years since I even had the female physiology that lead to my need for Effexor and I still am completely helpless to get off of it. This is truly hell.
