My father is currently sitting in prison over Effexor! He is a recovering alcoholic who served 2 1/2 years over alcohol related incidents in which no one was hurt or harmed in any way. When he was released he started to try to find ways to deture himself from going back to drinking, which is when his doctor recommended Effexor. When he started experiencing adverse side effects he quit taking the medication, but was unaware that the side effects of that would include psychotic episodes in which he heard voices, thought people were watching him, and thought he had to defend himself. He made scenes in public places, but again, never assaulted anyone with any kind of a weopon or damaged property. For fear of what would happen after he got released from causing a disturbance he left the state to try and find help before he got a violation on his parolle. He was pulled over on a routine traffic stop. Now he is in prison, with no alcohol related violation, awaiting his fate and sentencing.
