I too suffered from cancre\' sores at the age of 7 and my mom used alum. Yuk! It stung and was sour!! It worked, but I always hated it. I\'m a nurse now and use kenalog orabase (prescription) and won\'t go back to anything else as it works!! In fact, my 13 and 15 year old use it now also. A little bit applied with a clean swab (never use the same swab twice!) to the affected site will help the sore stay protected and go away in about 48 hours, which is incredible! We apply ours at night before bed and in the morning after brushing our teeth. What else can I say? It works!!! Take it from a long term sufferer who has done without oranges, tomatoes, chocolate and lowered stress. Still, if I hit my gum the wrong way with a toothbrush, there is the sore again! I will try the toothpaste info given on this site. Sure worth a try!
