Bipolar western med problems

My husband takes lithium, amitriptyline, and valium for bipolar disorder. The drugs worked fairly well for a few years. After an extremely stressful year, his symptoms worsened and his med "menu" included sporadic attempts for relief with Wellbutrin, Prozac, Zoloft, Tegretol, Zyprexa, Risperdol, and Haladol all at different times within a 4 month period. "Suddenly" he gained 25 pounds and an additional 8% body fat, and became extremely constipated within a month's time. Now he's directed by an Internist to take a prescription laxative! He's more depressed NOW than BEFORE because his fitness routine is not producing optimal results due to this weight gain. Any thoughts on how naturopathy can reverse this mess? He's currently on 5 prescriptions!!
