Temporal arteritis

Help! I need info. About 2 1/2 years ago, I was diagnosed with hypertension. About the same time, I had a bout of dizziness that lasted 2 weeks. My PCP told me the dizziness was benign postural vertigo, but I'm sure it's not. The dizziness has continued to occur about 3-4 times a year, each episode lasting a week or longer. I have been dizzy now since 8/29 & have fallen twice because of it. A week ago, I was awakened two nights in a row with sharp pulsating pains in my right temple. The pain continues to be there, but not as bad. It is always worse if I lie on my right side. My PCP thought it may be TA, even though I'm only 48, but my sed rate was only 5. Now she doesn't think it is TA, but has reluctantly referred me to a neurologist. Unfortunately, my appointment is two months away. What compounds my concerns, is that my vision was failing so I saw my eye doc for a new glasses. He discovered a significant blind spot in my left eye that I'm wondering is a result of TA. Can you only have TA in one temple or is it always in both? If I have TA in my right temple, would that affect the vision in my left eye? Would TA only partially affect the vision or does it only cause total blindness? What are the side effects of prednisone? Thanks to all !!!
