Chronic Hip Pain

My father is a 70 year old man in excellent health. About 6 months ago, he developed a chronic hip pain in the front portion of his groin/hip area. The doctor did x-rays and an MRI and said it was arthritis. Vioxx and Celebrex upset his stomach and don't offer much relief. A cortisone shot in the hip didn't help and neither did 10 trips to the chirpractor. He says it only hurts to move it but he is barely able to go from sitting to standing. Can anyone help?
