Re: Topamax causing seizures

I was put on Topamax for migraines and seemed to be doing well on the medication for once. I have tried almost any of the neurological drugs you can name. I developed Peripheral Neuropathy a year and a half ago and could not tolerate some of the meds given for that illness such as Nurotin, Keppra and so on. Then my Neurologist suggested increasing my dosage of Topamax as it is beneficial in the treatment of neuropathy. So i started the gradual increase from 200mg to 300mg which is not a large dose but the side effects that i am having are terrible. I have felt like i was losing my mind! Literally. Confusion, delayed thought process, memory loss,weepy, tingling in my face, feeling like i was going to have a stroke or seizure. My husband came home and was so worried he wants me to see the doctor tomorrow. The first thing he thought was the medication. Then i got on the internet and read your posting. I thank God for sending me here and for your information.It has definately shed some light on what is going on. Thank you.
