Dear Janelle,

Hopefully by this point you have resolved this issue. Contacting your family doctor about this concern would be the best plan, as they are the most informed about your situation and able to advise you.

In terms of general information, it is possible to have a light bleed in the first several months of pregnancy, but it should always be checked out. The pregnancy test checks for a hormone,HCG, that grows very rapidly in your body when you become pregnant. The level of hormone is dependent on how long it has been since you conceived, and should not be dependent on any bleeding. So I would generally expect a pregnancy test to be accurate regardless of bleeding.

I hope this helps, Chris Maloney, Naturopathic Doctor Portland and Manchester Maine www.maloneymedical.com
