mirena coil and weight gain

I had my mirena coil inserted in June 2003 and after reading quite a few of the messages on your board I have made an appointment to have it removed, although I am dreading it as just inserting it was painful! So thank you ladies for making me finally make up my mind. The first month of having it inserted I suffered from bad headaches and ACNE!! And since then I have put on quite alot of weight. I was told the weight bit had nothing to do with the coil, but it seems too coincidental after reading all your letters. I ignored it thinking ok. I dont excercise and I seem to spend most of my days in a car, but to put on the weight that I have in less than a year is not normal for me and definately coincides with the insertion of the coil. I have also been having tender breasts for the last month, I bled all the way up until the last month, vaginal infection within the first month (never had them in my life!) and continue to have bad odors. I also have a 5cm cyst on my ovary which apparently can appear from the coil but have been told they come and go, but will have it checked up in 3 months time. So yeah, this mirena coil is definately coming out! Wish somebody from Mirena could answer to all our symptoms! My gyni did a very good job in promoting/selling me the coil and I just wish somebody from Mirena could answer to all our symptoms...as according to the gynis neither the weight nor the odors etc. have anything to do with it. I am at least \"thankful\" that im not the only one suffering. For those who are contemplating removing it..do so, you\'ll have to anyway at the end of the 5yr.period! Will let you know how it all goes once had mine out. Best wishes
