I\'ve had the mirena for almost 5 years now. The first 6 weeks was horrid, cramps, cramps and more cramps. I didn\'t experience any mood swings which was a blessing as I had been on Depoprovera prior and I was a ticking time bomb wiht that. I did get some sore breasts as well but it didnt last long. Starting around the 4 year mark however I noticed an increase in bleeding. I had only bled 3 days a month, and sometimes only every other month prior. Now I\'m back to a normal 5 day period (still much better to before) and regular montly. My mood swings are returning, and the cramps are again horrendous. I want this thing out! It hurts like crazy, and I\'ve been in to see the doc once already and she said it was fine. I\'m telling ya... the drug in it only lasts 4 years, it was a god send before this. After 4 years it should be replaced because this stinks.
