I was diagnosed with PTC about 6 years ago. I had a great neurologist, Opthamologist and neurosurgeon who worked with me very closely. I had a shunt put in my brain and that eleviated any problems with my eyesight, to this day, my optic nerve is still looking very good. As for the headaches, I too had a shunt in my spine and it offered me great relief for about 6 months. They decided it needed to be replaced and during the surgery, this numnuts nicked my spinal cord and left me partially paralyzed. Today, nearly 3 years later, I still have no feeling left in my legs, but can get around with a walker, yet the headaches still persist. I have found a new doctor that specializes in only headaches and he says that at least 1/2 of the headaches are caused by the medication they use to combat the PTC. How about that!!! So 5 years later, I am addicted to Oxycontin, and next week, am going through a major detox to see where the headaches actually are. My pressure is still up, and the only thing that seems to bring it down are LP\'s. At this point, if I have to go and have one every month, I\'ll do just that. They seem to give me some relief for about that period of time. In the meantime, every month they try a new medication. Topomax seems to help, that and Diamox. Hope this helps. Thanks for listening and all the support on this site.
