pseudo-tumor cerebri - AGAIN

My name is Leeanne, I am 32 years old, married for the past 13 years, and have two boys, 9 and 3 years old. I too, have had migraines my entire life, as far back as I can remember. 2 years or so ago, I was on vacation at the beach, and had a headache like none other that I had ever had. Laying down made it so much worse, when usually laying down helped with migraines. My general physician did the routine CT Scan and MRI, to tell me all was normal, meanwhile, I had had the headache for 2 weeks and it wasn\'t getting any better. He had a \"hunch\" as he called it and asked me to have a spinal tap to test the pressure of fluid in my spine. That was the only true way to find out if it was Pseudo Tumor Cerebri, and it was. I had 10 spinal taps, before having a lumbar shunt placed in my lower back in October of last year. I have been headache free until 3 weeks ago. I had gastric bypass surgery (weight loss) in April of this year, and my neurologist thinks that the blood in the abdomen may have clotted and stopped up the shunt, so I go tomorrow to have that one removed and another one put in. I haven\'t been to this page in forever, since I was doing so much better, but with this replacement, I wondered if anyone else out there was suffering from the same problems as me. I would love to talk to someone who has a shunt. Thanks, Leeanne Crisler
