Unfortunately I am an excema sufferer as well. I’m 22 and I’ve had it since I was a toddler. I’ve read alot about prevention and haven’t really put much thought into this up until recently. I’m not sure if I’m suffering from food allergies, animal allergies, temperature allergies or what-not. I personally use Palmers Cocoa Butter Oil after I shower and it does a great job moisturizing. My hands get especially dry because I wash them many times a day. I’ve read from various posts on excema, that Primrose oil with GLA works, Cod liver Oil (however my mom gave this to me daily for several years growing up and i still had outbreaks), Aderma Exomega lotion, Emu oil, and cutting out dairy products. I’m not sure which will work for me at this time, but I will definitely give each one a try.

I’ve also been on many steroid creams, not sure if they truely work. Back in HS I was prescribed Elocol (?) and that seemed to work, but it hasn’t worked for me recently. Just last year I was prescribed Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream, and it has worked some. At that time I was also presribed some itch prevention pills (i forgot the name).

I’ll just need to figure out my own remedies as everyone is different. There is no ONE cause of excema, as causes differ for everyone.

Good luck to all you excema sufferers out there. Be patient (like me) and hopefully you’ll figure out what is causing it and how to prevent it!
