I am 22 and i had pancreatitus the summer i turned 19. I had been living with stomach problems for about 6 months but didn’t really think it was anything serious. It hurt a lot after every meal so I started taking lactaid pills because I thought maybe I was lactose intolorant. Finally, I woke up one night to the most excrutiating pain imaginable and I thought I was dying. . . which I was. I made my mom take me to the hospital and was diagnosed with pancreatitus. I was hospitalized for 2 weeks and they hooked me up to a pump to feed me the liquid bad stuff for 3 1/2 months. All I could ingest was water. Eventually the pain slowly went away but after the pump feeding was over I was on an incredibly strict diet for about a year. I could only have about 10grams of fat a day. That’s a lot of boullion soup. They never concluded why I had it. One test they did saw tiny calcium crystalizations in my gallbladder so they went ahead and took it out just to be safe. I took Pancrease and Previcid for about 1 1/2 years and it really helped. Today I feel great. I haven’t had any problems for the last couple of years. Thank God. I hope any of this helps. God bless you and your sister.
