My 23 yo daughter was just diagnosed with PT. Her neurologist said it occurs almost exclusively in females and especially in overwieght females. He prescribed Diamox which acts as a diuretic and causes relief from the pressure on the optic nerve. Diamox made her ill at first (nausea, no appetite, etc) until we tried making her 2 tabs a day into 4 half-tabs a day. She did better that way and so far is experiencing better vision (at least the spots have stopped) and lessened head pain. Hope this helps and good luck to you.
