I’ve had chronic hives since the age of 17–I am now 32. It’s been a definite struggle, both physically and emotionally. At the beginning I was on Cortisone injections due to the severity of the hives. Then I was placed on Prednisone. Like many of you, I’ve gone to every doctor imaginable and had every blood test run known to man. All negative, to my dismay. I most recently went to a naturopath who said “it’s just one of those things that we don’t have an “”cure”” for because we don’t know the cause””. I currently take 1/2 of a 5mg pill of Prednisone only when I get them on my face, otherwise I’ve learned to deal with them. I’ve tried Zyrtec, Singulair etc but nothing but the Prenisone seem to help. The side effects are horrible but I feel better now that I’m taking such a little amount. My doctor has recommended that I begin a course of Calcium Magnesium to help with bone density loss due to the Prednisone. I would not wish this on anyone.
