Well, I have read these stories here. I suggest anyone who hasnt gone to the doctor to go and have this check out. It may be nothing, but may be a sign of cancer. I noticed a lump on the back of my neck on the right side near the hairline 2 years ago. The lump never really went away, I just kept thinking/wishing it would. This March I figured I better have it looked at (after reading the net and seeing that these are possible signs of cancer). The first doctor I went to thought it was a cyst in my neck. Gave me antibiotics and said to come back in a week. The lump didnt go away. He gave me some stronger antibiotics and said to call back in a week if still there and he would make an appt with a dermatologist to cut out the lump. Well after a week it went down, but was still there. I called back and they made an appt for me with a dermatologist, who looked at it and stated it was too deep and he didnt feel comfortable taking it out. I then was referred to an ENT, who ordered CT scans of the lump. I came back a couple weeks and was told this was an enlarged lymph node, that is not shrinking (you body has hundreds of these things that swell with infections/cancer/other reasons). He said there was only a very slight risk of being cancer but only way to know was to have it removed. Well last week I went in to surgery and had the lump removed. It was indeed an enlarged lymph node. I today had my post-op with the ENT and was told it came back benign. Thank God!! I would suggest you all get the lump checked out. It may be nothing to worry about, but I am glad I can finally put it behind me. Just put yourself at ease.
