I was in the same position as you are. The first thing that you need to do is to work with your doctor to get your blood sugars under control. You didn’t say if you were an insulin dependent diabetic or not. I am, and I switched to an insulin pump and have MUCH better control of my blood sugars. You didn’t say what kind of doctor you have been seeing, but if you don’t already have an endocrinologist, I suggest that you find one. They’ll be able to help you get your blood sugars under control. The other thing that my endocrinologist did was to put me on blood pressure medication. That’s another option that you may wish to discuss with your doctor. The combination of keeping my blood sugars better controlled and keeping my blood pressure down has greatly reduced the amount of protein in my urine.
