As I graduated from NCNM, a four year Naturopathic program, I am biased against both Clayton and Trinity. The difficulty is that Clayton keeps no alumni records, so I can’t credit them with being a school so much as a mail order company. Could I suggest getting your certifications locally from herbalists, homeopaths, and bodyworkers in your area? Not only will you get a hands-on education, you will get to know the local community of alternative care. I suspect it will probably cost a similar amount, and your community credibility would be much higher. In terms of Naturopathic care for home use, getting Michael Murray’s two volume Encyclopedia of Naturopathic Medicine is probably all you would need to start. Alternately, you could contact all the four year schools and ask to get our required textbook lists. That would give you all the material I covered in four years. If you are unconvinced and still want to do the programs, please check your state’s health provider laws to see if you can practice afterward. Once you start, you will see the desperate need of others for what you provide. Best wishes, whatever your path.
