Dear dt,

You could contact NPLEX directly and they should have all the past years available. In the experience of my classmates, the NPLEX varied from year to year, and the professors taught more or less to the test information. I studied the USMLE (MD equivalent) for both sets of exams, and I think the NPLEX is harder because reasonable questions are often challenged and thrown out and the “standard”” questions are not as established for our profession. In terms of passing, it depends on your comfort level. I personally could not afford to put my professional life on hold for a year or even six months to retake a test. So I overstudied myself well above passing. If you like to live on the edge (or have better things to do with your time) NPLEX scores will only be a factor in residencies or in competition for being hired. If you are striking out on your own, be aware that different states have different acceptable “”passing”” levels.
