People sometimes say that \"Nephritis\" is what they call it now. Nephritis is just a term that means \"swollen kidneys\" (an -itis is always something that is swollen). The swelling can be caused by an of a number of diseases, ailments, etc. It can be a one-time thing or a lifetime struggle depending on what the underlying ailment is. Basically, see a specialist in kidneys.
