Hi i was diagnosed in 1997 with ptc. i am 38 years old now and like most have had several lumbar punctures and several rounds of diuretics in oct of 1997 I had a ventricular shunt placed. wow my first day without a headache what a treat that was. because the headaches came on so slowly i adjusted to the pain and didn’t realize just how intense they were until i didn’t have one. i have since had two revisions done on the shunt. one in 200 and one in 2003 and now i am unfortunately facing a possible third revision. yes the surgeries are nerve racking and as with any surgery there are risks but i will continue to have them as long as it protects my vision. not too mention the relief i feel after a successful surgery and all the days it gives me to enjoy time with my husband, children, family and friends without the constant distractions of head and neck pain and that rotten swooshing sound. if nothing else know that you are not alone in this and there are many of us out here who not only sympathise but understand and wish you the best,
