You should try a coal/tar ointment. It is a very old-fashioned remedy for excema, psoriasis, and other itchy skin ailments. Ask your Pharmacist what coal/tar remedies he/she sells for psoriasis. Washing with a dandruff shampoo also has had great results for me. Try to swim in the ocean and get some moderate sunbathing time. Hemp cream (available in specialty shops like The Body Shop) is very very soothing. Also, I have found tea tree oil (available in health food stores) to work. I think it must only be used in small amounts, as it is very strong. Try some of these things — nothing cures it to my experience, but these will help.
