bipolar in kids

my 8 yr old daughter was diagnosed with manic depression( bipolar disorder) one yr ago. she takes neurontin as a mood stablizer and seroquel to stop her cycling and help her sleep. there is a strong family history of bipolar disorder. i was reading a book re: bipolar in kids and came across an article about alternative treatments. it mentioned a dr crinnion in seattlef who does brain chemical balancing to cure mental illness. anyone heard of this? we live in japan so don`t have any alternative medicine like that here.
