I am going to a 4 year naturopathy school this September and, having graduated with a BSc from reputed “traditional”” University, I can already see the reaction of my fellow students upon hearing of my future plans. Even though i am going to a ‘brick and mortar”” school, most people still do not really take naturopathy seriously, let alone the schools. They think it is really easy to get in and a general waste of money since naturopaths are quacks anyway. For this reason, i think whether you go to a 4 year school or do distance learning, in the “”general”” circle of people, that do not particularly adhere to the notion of natural healing, where you do your naturopathy learning does not matter. I find it is hard to have to always try and “”convert”” people when I explain to them that I want to become a naturopath. I hope the profession in general will gain some respect in the coming years, and come to equal footing in terms of recognition by the general public, with orthodox medicine.
