True Naturopathic Medicine does NOT use drugs and perform minor surgery. These are best left up to a Medical Doctor who has 4 years of Medical School, Internship and Residency. The Naturopathic “Medical”” education at the 4 year schools is insufficent, admission standards are poor, there is no admission exam comparable to the MCAT ( for Medical School Admissions exams ). You will find most of the people who attend the “”diploma mills”” as you have put it – already have some type of medical education / degree and feel it is necessary to have a “”4 yr Naturopathic Medical School Degree””. These people have no intention of prescribing medications, do pap smears and minor surgery which is NOT real Naturopathic Medicine. The 2 week diploma mill you mentioned is NOT approved by any Naturopathic organization and is being shut down by the State Attorney General.
