Hello Sarah,
I know exactly what you mean…the weight gain, and the withdrawal is pure hell. Be sure and wean off slowly. If you experience any really bad symptoms while you are coming off, or after you stop all together, go to your doctor and ask for the following medications, they really helped me through the withdrawal symtoms:
Meclizine- 25 mg. 1 tab 3 x a day- for the nauseau and dizziness. (motion sickness pill)
Ativan – .5 mg. 1 tab 3 x a day as needed – for nerves, to calm you down.
If you have horrible headaches too, ask for Midrin, you take two capsules at onset of headache and repeat every hour up to 12 hours until headache is gone. Use these only as needed.
I know this seems like alot, but believe me, I would not let them put me back on Effexor, and this combination worked! This should help you get off of Effexor and feel somewhat normal by the time school starts. If I can be of anymore help…feel free to e-mail me. Because I know that through the withdrawal, I had alot of mental crap that made me go a little crazy, too.
Good luck and May God bless you!
